Choosing who will make your T-shirt quilt is one of the most important decisions you will make. Quilt makers differ in how they cut your T-shirts, construct the quilt, handle different types of fabric, quilt the finished top, and even in whether they make a true quilt or a blanket.

☐ Choose Your T-shirts
This is important!
Ask yourself what story you want your quilt to tell. For example, if you want the quilt to tell the story of your sorority days, you probably wouldn’t include a T-shirt from high school. It can distract from the story you are trying to tell.

Planning a T-shirt quilt?
Here are step-by-step directions for ordering your Too Cool T-shirt quilt.
☐ Mark What You Don’t Want Used on Your T-shirt.
Every T-shirt quilt company has its own instructions for marking shirts. At Too Cool T-shirt Quilts, we ask you to mark what you don’t want used. We will use everything that is not X’d out.
Here’s how to mark and prepare your T-shirts for us.
☐ Complete the T-shirt Quilt Order Form
Every T-shirt quilt company has its own ordering process. Before sending in your T-shirts, make sure you understand exactly what information the quilt maker needs from you.
Our order form walks you through the choices we need to make your quilt the way you want it, including quilt size, style, borders, backing, and other details.

☐ Choose Your Backing and Binding Colors
Your backing and binding colors are an important part of how your finished quilt will look. We ask you to choose these colors on our order form. If you’re not sure what to choose, there is also a “Help - give me some suggestions” option and we can help you decide.

☐ Box Up Your T-shirts and Ship Them
This might sound easy enough, but you want to take the time to do it right.
There is nothing worse for us than receiving a box with a gaping hole in its side and wondering if all the T-shirts made it here. Use a sturdy box, pack it carefully, and make sure it is securely taped.
Here are our tips for packing and shipping your T-shirts.
☐ Sit Back and Let Your Quilt Maker Work
After you ship your T-shirts, watch for an email confirming that your box has arrived.
At Too Cool T-shirt Quilts, our goal is to contact you within 2 business days of receiving your T-shirts. If you haven’t heard from us, check your junk or spam folder. And if you are worried, call us. We are always happy to let you know the status of your quilt.
Once your T-shirts have arrived and you have approved the final size, you can sit back and let us get to work. Our goal is to have your quilt completed within 6 weeks of your approval.
☐ Receive Your Finished T-shirt Quilt
Getting your quilt back is one of the best parts.
How do you know if you have a great quilt? First, you’ll want to show it to everyone. Second, someone will say, “Hey, if you don’t want it, I’ll take it.”
If someone wants your quilt even though it is made from your T-shirts, that’s a sure sign of a great T-shirt quilt.
