Since 1992, we have innovated and challenged the status quo.
And what came out of that bag wasn’t just a quilt—it was a challenge to the status quo.
That first quilt broke every rule at the time:
From those three simple but radical shifts, Too Cool T-shirt Quilts was born.
And it didn’t stop there.
What began as one breakthrough method has lead to a number of different T-shirt quilt styles - including the stained-glass style.
Now there is the Ultra Modern method. This methodology let's the T-shirt quilt maker push the boundaries of what a T-shirt quilt can be.
We’ve been saying it since day one:
“There is a better way to make a T-shirt quilt.”
Andrea Funk, the inventor of T-shirt quilts made with multiple block sizes, made her first quilt when she was 5 years old. She never stopped making them. In 1992 she founded Too Cool T-shirt Quilts. Her life has been immersed in T-shirt quilts ever since.
When do you stop learning? It took Andrea an undergrad degree in Communications, a Master's in Communications, a Master's in Graphic Design, a Military Journalism degree and a CPCU insurance degree to decided enough is enough. However she continues learning everyday - it's the only way to keep up!
Andrea shares the Too Cool method in a the book How to Make a Too Cool T-shirt Quilt. She also has a series of video teaching the method.
