When someone you love passes away, their clothing carries something nothing else does. A memorial quilt turns those shirts, sweaters, dress shirts, and jackets into something you can hold, use, and pass down.
We have been making memorial quilts since 1992 and handle materials — neckties, silk scarves, delicate fabrics — that most quilt makers won't touch.
A memorial quilt is a quilt made from the clothing of someone who has died.
Their shirts, pants, dresses, jackets, and other garments are cut and sewn. We then add backing material, batting to transform them into a quilt that family members can use every day.
Unlike storing clothes in a box, a memorial quilt keeps that person's presence alive in a tangible, usable form. It is one of the most personal quilts we make.
Send what feels right. If you are unsure, send it — we will let you know.
The most important rule: the most delicate item sets the care standard for the whole quilt. One silk tie means dry-clean only. If you want a machine-washable quilt, keep all items you put into the quilt machine-washable.
Front, back, sleeves — any part. Works beautifully as anchor blocks.

Pockets, collars, and plackets can be featured. A favorite shirt becomes a centerpiece.

Legs, back pockets, waistbands. Denim adds weight and texture to the quilt.

Usable. Check the care label — some require hand wash or dry clean.
Check label - if Dry Clean Only, then the entire quilt will become Dry Clean Only
Can be sewn in recognizable as ties or used as fabric sections. Most ties are silk — if included, the entire quilt must be dry-cleaned. Add a quilt label noting this so future owners know.

Beautiful in a quilt. Same rule applies: one silk item means the whole quilt is dry-clean only.

Often some of the most worn and loved items. Check the robe label — some are acetate and dry-clean only.

You can transfer photographs onto fabric and include them as blocks. A face, a place, a moment.

The questions families ask most before ordering.
There is no set rule. Some families order within weeks of a loss; others wait a year or more. If you feel the need to ask whether it's too soon, it probably is — and that's okay. The clothing will keep. Start when you are ready, not when you feel you should be ready. That tends to produce a better experience and a quilt that feels right.
20 would be the low end and 100 the high end.
Include what tells the story.
4 to 6 weeks from the time you approve the size. During busy seasons (around Christmas and spring graduation) it may be closer to 6 to 8 weeks. The clock starts when you approve the size — not when we receive the clothing. If you have a specific date in mind, note it on your order form.
