Too Cool T-shirt Quilts at an expoWe love displaying our T-shirt Quilts various events such as marathon expos. We enjoy visiting with current customers and future customers. People walking by our booth often comment to us about how cool our T-shirt quilts are. It’s a lot of fun.

At every event we attend, we hear many of the same questions over and over. Since people have these questions in person, I figured you might have the same questions.

Can micro tech or dry fit fabrics be used in our T-shirt quilts?

The Short Answer:

Yes, we can use those and any other machine washable fabric. All washable fabric can be mixed together.

The Long Answer:

micro tech shirts can be used in a T-shirt quiltThis question is asked frequently because runners and other athletes receive tech fabric T-shirts at events. The other reason this question is asked is because many T-shirt quilters refuse to use this material because it is difficult to work with and you can’t iron on interfacing to tech fabrics.

But here at Too Cool T-shirt Quilts we don’t use iron on backing on your T-shirts, nor do we find the material especially difficult to work with.  Here is more information about Tech T-shirts.

Can you use the front and  back of my T-shirts?

The Short Answer:

Yes, we can use any part of your T-shirts or other items. Front, back, sleeve, leg and butt.

The Long Answer:

X out what you don't want used in your T-shirt quiltWe will use everything on your T-shirts unless you mark it for us not to use. Don’t assume that since a part is not important to you that we will know not to use it. You need to tell us what parts not to use.

Since we typically use more of a T-shirt than not, we prefer that you tell us what not to use. We will use anything not marked out. Here is a link to a video and written directions on how to mark your T-shirts for us.

How long does it take us to make a quilt?

calendar-1

The Short Answer:

Typically 3 to 6 weeks.

The Long Answer:

Our turn around time varies by the time of year. Near Christmas and high school graduation season, our turn around time is closer to 6 weeks. But in January and February and in the summer, our turn around time is much faster.

If you have a date that you must have your quilt by, be sure to write that on your order form.  We are happy to work with you to accommodate your time line.

What’s on the back of the quilt?

The Short Answer:

We use a high quality, solid color, 100% cotton fabric with a contrasting thread so you can see our quilting.

The Long Answer:

Too Cool T-shirt Quilt’s quilting is one of the things that sets our quilts apart from other T-shirt quilts. Most quilters use just an over all pattern on their quit.

We quilt each block with a unique quilting pattern. We trace some of the designs on the front of the quilt. The traced designs are then seen on the back of the quilt.

When the visitors to our booth see the back of the quilt, they are astounded at the detail of the quilting.

Can I choose what color goes on the back of my quilt?

Too Cool T-shirt Quilt's Fabric roomThe Short Answer:

Of course, it’s your quilt!

The Long Answer:

We have access to over 250 fabric colors. All you have to do is tell us what color you would like or send us a swatch of the color you would like us to match.

Many quilting companies only offer a handful of colors to choose from. But since we have over 250 colors, you can personalize your quilt how you would like.

How do I get my T-shirts to you?

Where to find a box to mail your T-shirts to your quilt makerThe Short Answer:

If you live near one of our locations, you can drop your T-shirts off and meet with the quilter. But most people will ship their box of T-shirts to us.

The Long Answer:

Here is more information about how to pack up your T-shirts to send to us.
